Finally some work!

I feel like I haven't done anything, but yet I have. The air conditioning is working for now. Seems they have to replace this and that so it won't be working fully for a while longer. But it's okay since the thermostat is no longer reading 95degrees. Instead it's now reading 78 degrees. Thank goodness.

Okay so finally I get to show you a couple projects. I'll be using these as prizes during my portion of the techniques class at the LSS.

Beer Mug made pretty!
I did the mug, and my awesome Mom did the flowers.
I kinda wanna keep it. But I'll be good.

Broken Frame made pretty!
I got this at the store with the little white frame falling off.
Anyone else would have said no way and left it.
I saw an awesome opportunity.
I got it half price and because the small white frame wasn't
attached I was able to easily cover the backing and
reattach the small frame back on afterward.
Ranger Glossy Accents is my new best friend.

Okay ladies the first is creeping up fast and I'll be honest I'm slacking
on the store, but that doesn't mean there won't be anything posted.
(shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......there's a few things up already.)

I actually have quite a bit to post, so this is gonna take a while.
If I don't get on much this weekend I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Slacking?

No way!! I'm super busy getting things ready for future projects on SPCC..
Sorry Can't show you until they premier.
So just in case your curious why I haven't posted work you know why now:).
So far 4 down and 3 more to go!!
Yay!!

I would be more productive, but honestly it's miserable in the house right now.
The Air conditioner is broken and it's like a sauna in here.
It got up to 92 degrees in here yesterday. Yuck!
They'll be here on Thursday to fix the unit.

Oh and as for the Esty store,
I'm working hard on taking pictures for all the items.
I'll start posting them in the store by the end of the week.
The official opening day is still Saturday, August 1st. YAY!!
I hope you all are having a fabulous week.

SPCC - Color Combo #7 & Family

This week has been super busy, but so worth it!
We had my in-laws visit for the day on Thursday.
I spent the first part of the week cleaning and setting
things up for the class at the LSS.
Friday was a crop night :) (I love those) at the LSS.
Saturday I spent the day relaxing.

I did get a project done for this week's SPCC #7 color combo!

It's an altered coaster and I've attached magnets to the back.
It's Sassafras Lass Paper from the Serendpity Line, Primas, & Bazzil Cardstock.
Please be sure to stop by
Scrapmaster’s Paradise Color Combos
often for Challenges and inspiration.

I thought I'd share a few photos from visit with family.
My MIL Lori, SIL Chloe and I did a few projects.
Chloe did 2 bird houses:

Lori & I made a binder clip & altered coaster:

We got super lucky and had a surprise guest!
Grandma came along for the visit too!
I'm sure you've read before that I totally adore her.
Here's the Lambs:

I couldn't help but include a few pictures of Chloe and the dogs.

Hello ladies!

Life has been filled with new twists and turns this past few weeks.
With that said there's still more to come.
I was honestly thinking I'd be lucky to make it to 45 craftastic friends and hopefully get 50 by the end of the month.
But I'll gotten 59 craftastic friends and the month isn't even over.

So everyone that's new, hello & welcome!
I'm so glad you found me & my tiny space of the blog world.

Be sure to check out the monthly challenge.
Links are on the top and side panels.

Random RAKs are also done.
I might ask help with a question, or like on August 2nd I will be
picking one random craftastic friend to recieve a RAK containing a
few items that will be found in my Etsy store.
Store will be opening on August 1st if I can manage to prepare:)

Any way I'd just like to thank all my craftastic friends for being here.

SP Diva! (Yippie!)

I'm so giddy I can hardly sit still lately!
I've been blessed multiple times these past few weeks when
it comes to my love of scrapbooking.
Today I get to announce the latest blessings.

I was chosen to be an SP Diva @
Scrapmaster’s Paradise Color Combos.

How exciting!
I was chosen to be a SP Layout Diva.
However I was also asked to do at least half of my projects as altered items.
You all know I just love altering things so this is going to be awesome.
Check out me and the my fellow SP Divas here.
Please be sure to check out all the awesome entries into the last few challenges.
The ladies that have been participating have beautiful & inspiring work.

Now for my other scrapbook blessing!
The owner of the LSS (Local Scrapbook Store) has
asked me to teach a 45 minute techniques class.
I of course have gotten my mom to assist me :).
Isn't she awesome?
There will be four techniques taught in one day.

The first class begins at 11 AM, Saturday, August 8th
@ 1000 Memories on Fry BLVD

In order:
~Die cuts & Punches
~Embossing, Dry, Heating, ect
~Mod Podge & Chipboard (taught by my Mommy & Me)
~Alcohol Inks

If you're in the area and would like to attend the classes let me know.
Space is limited, so the sooner we sign you up the better.
There will be a fee, however I'm not certain of the cost.
I know you will be given the option to take 1 or all four classes.
Prices would be dependent on that for sure.

A few details about my class:
~You will see how to use mod podge as an adhesive & a clear coat/sealant.
Two mini projects are included-
~ 2 Chipboard pieces to show you how to paper over a chipboard piece.
~ 1 Bottle Cap with magnet attached to show how to use
mod podge over slippery surfaces & rounded areas.

I hope to see you for the classes and
can't wait to see you all participate in SPCC challenges.

Are you ready for challenges?

Here's the details:

Below you'll find 4 challenges.
2 LO Challenges, 1 Card Challenge and 1 Altered Item Challenge.
You are not being asked to do all challenges, though.

For each Challenge you submit to me your name will be
entered into a "raffle" for the monthly RAK.
So if you do one challenge you will be entered once, do 4
then you'll be entered 4 times.
This is just a way to Challenge you and give you the chance
to try new techniques.
If you have suggestions on RAKs or Challenges let me know
and I'll be more than happy to try to incorporate them.

Layout Sketch
For this one just follow the sketch and make it your own at the same time.

*Taken from scrapbook.com, however the user name is
one I can't remember. I apologize.

~~Update: Sketch belongs to Beggahuna. If you look her up you;ll find she has a bunch of awesome sketches.

Layout Shopping List
Use at least 3 of the following items in a LO.
~2+ Flowers
~Large Alpha
~2+ Buttons
~Pattern Paper Background
~Bling/Glitter
~2+ Brads
~2 Types of Ribbon
~Color Red or Pink
~Felt

(If you combine LO Challenges 1 & 2 your name will be entered an extra time, so instead of 2 chance to win the RAK it'll be 3.)

Card Sketch
Follow the sketch and make it your own at the same time.
This is a sketch from Pagemaps.com I love the sketches from there.

Outta the Box
One of the Ladies on Vintage Flaire just held a challenge to Alter a Coaster and make it a magnet. It's such a fun & easy project. Not only that but you're re purposing a coaster and making your fridge all cute! You can "acquire" a coaster at your favorite restaurant or buy a package of 4-6 at a dollar store. Here's mine to give you an idea. Of course I'll be making a new one just for the challenge.

Submitting your work is easy,
either post a comment here with the
link or email me a photo @ craftasticlife@hotmail.com.
Just make sure to put in the Subject Line "Craftastic Challenge #5"
and the Title(s) of your project(s).
Challenge ends August 15, 2009.

Now for goodies!!
This months RAK is larger than any other I've put together. You ladies voted for a whimsy jar, but I over ruled that with a whimsy BOX! How exciting is that? The box stands a 11x3x13 and is nearly full with the goodies below. Not only is the lucky lady getting the items below but she's also getting extra items that I'll be throwing in during the next few weeks.

As of today a package of Thickers and 3 items from the
Martha Stewart Line have been added.

Donated Items include:
EK Sucess Postage Stamp Boarder Punch (Thank you, Mom!!)
Pack of 3 embellishment tubes all in Pink!! (Thank you, Vicky!)
Hope you all like it.

*If we reach 10 Ladies participating a
2nd RAK will be given, so make sure to tell your girl friends.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with.
As usual I'll be playing along too and will hopefully manage
to complete all four projects.
Good Luck Ladies, and happy scrapping.
If you have questions about techniques send me a message.

Lolli Pop Flower Tutorial

Okay now for those uber cool and super easy lolli pop flowers :).

Tools need to make paper Flowers:
• Scissors or Cricut (I used the Plantin School Book Cartridge)
• White Paint
• Paint Brush
• Brads
• Spray Bottle or Glitter Water Spray
• Hole Punch (I used my Big Bite Crop-a-dile, the smaller hole)
• Your choice of Card Stock or heavy weight pattern paper
• Distresser is Optional (I don’t use it)

Lollipop Flowers (Much like the new Primas!)

Step One:
Pick your card stock. You can pick 1 paper or a few.

Step Two:
Cut out your circles
If you hand cut them you don’t have to follow
sizes just make them one bigger than the last.
1st Layer – 1/2 inch Circle
2nd Layer – 1 inch circle
3rd Layer – 1 ½ inch circle
4th Layer – 2 inch circle
5th Layer – 2 ½ inch circle

*You only need one of each size to make a flower
but I did 2 of each size to make a second flower.

Step Three:
Paint the edges of the Circles (You can distress the edges first if you’d like.)
You can either let them dry or get a little messy!

Step Four:
Punch a hole in the center of the circles.

Step Five:
Pick your brad, I chose silver just because.

Step Six:
Stack the flowers from smallest on top to largest on bottom.
Put Brad through holes and secure.
Because I choose to do three sheets of circles
I was able to do 1 of each color in a solid flower
and 3 that were all mixed up.

Step Seven:
Lay out your flowers over paper towels
and pray with water to moisten.

Step Eight:
Start to mold your flowers with lefts
and cripples to add texture. You might have
to moisten them more to mold on the lower layers.
Flatten out for better use on
Layouts and card or leave as a Bulb.

Step Nine:
Let dry overnight before using is best.
Or use a Heat gun.

* We can all thank yet another Tally Sister for
her wonderful inspiration!
