SPCC - Color Combo #13

I know the last few projects
for SPCC have been layouts
so this weeks is actually an altered Item.

I don't use coupons often but when I do
I can never find them in my purse.
So I got this little coupon folder
on clearance and decorated it!

I used an exacto knife to cut out the flowers.
Layered them over a written pattern paper with mod podge.
Added some ribbon, rub-ons & bookplate and tada!
Fashion for coupons. LOL!

This week's color combo:

Here's this weeks Prize on SPCC:

I hope to see you play along!

Altoid Tin & More...

Grandma Mary likes Altoids and instead of throwing out
the tin she's been keeping them for me.
The problem however is that I had no clue what to do with them.
I've had a couple ideas floating around my head
but this one is the first one to actually be done.

I spray painted the tin silver, and decorated it with
paper and one of my favorite stamps from the "Very Punny"
(It's Retired)stamp set from Stampin' Up.
I then made little cards to fit inside using
more stamps from the adorable set.

I got to do the card kit swap on one of the Myspace
groups I'm in and here's the kit I received from Debi
as well as the cards I made with it.
I still have tons more I can make.

Just a few fun cards:

Awweee LOVE!

After posting the pictures from our ride
in the mountains the other day I knew I had
to do a LO of this picture of me and Justin.

I used an 8x10 photo.
The paper is Sassafras Lass & Bazzil Swiss Dot.
Heart at the bottom left corner is chipboard,
first inked pink then stamped with a Stampin Up
back ground stamp with brown and then embossed.
The title is a rub-on on vellum.
And the huge flower on the right side is Petaloo.

Maybe my mojo is on it's way back.
Let's hope so.

Four Legged Babies & Toxins

Yesterday little Spike got a hold of mom's macadamia nuts.
Now she thought they were safe on her desk,
but the little guy got on her chair and stole the bag.
He must have eaten about 5 of the nuts.
This morning he was unable to walk and
didn't want to move his back legs.
Macadamia nuts are toxic and can cause depression,
muscle tremors, fever and weakness.
It may also cause Kidney Failure.
Symptoms can last 48 hours.

To be on the safe side however Mom has taken Spike
to the Vet and all the results came back good.
He's walking around normally, but he won't be
completely back to normal for a couple days.
Spike is strong little guy and will be back on track soon.
But not all fur babies can pull through,
so please research make sure all your family members
know what the pets can and can not have.
And make sure vet information is posted
on fridge or a general common area.

You can go to this link for more foods
that are toxic for you four legged baby.

I've misplaced it!
If you find it please give it back.

SPCC - Color Combo #12

Gosh, I'm really out of it lately!
I've had this done alittle over a week in order to submit it
for this week's SPCC. challenge as well as If it's Groovy
"August Office Supply Challenge." But I spaced it and it wasn't
added to this week's showcase on SPCC.

But here it is.

A picture of a few of my school supplies and new backpack.
The file folder does open up to reveal copies of my school paper work,
my placement test scores, and handouts from the first day.
I also journaled about my first day.
My schedule is on the flap of the file folder
hanging on with a binder clip.
I also used my Silver Spica Copic Marker to make
little dots around the border of my schedule and around the
filigree at the bottom of the file folder.
This marker is AWESOME! I'll have to buy a set soon.

Here's this week's SPCC COLOR Combo!!

Check out this weeks SPCC. Prize from icopic.com!

Head on over to If It's Groovy to see what the
other ladies have done for their August Challenge.
This months prize is a set of stamps.

Covering a Spiral Notebook

Since this months challenge is to alter a notebook, I thought I'd show you how I like to cover spiral notebooks. All of this is step by step in pictures. If you have questions let me know.

First pick your spiral notebook.
This is a Dollar Tree find and measures about 6x6.

Remove the front and back cover from the spiral.

Apply Adhesive and attach your choice of paper.
I cut mine alittle larger so I didn't have to line it perfectly.

I cut around my cover to remove the extra paper.

Use the back of the cover as a guide to punch the wholes for the spiral.

You'll do your back cover the same way.

Measure your cover for the inside paper.

You can so this part with or with out an inside pocket.
Without the pocket you can cover the inside the same way you did the outside.
With the pocket you will want to cute the inside paper exactly to fit the cover or if you're like me and can never get things to line up you can cut it a bit smaller.

For the pocket I cut a strip at three inches high.
(Sorry no pics for this part!)
I measured a half inch from the side and scored the paper.
I did the same thing for the bottom.
On the 3rd side I matched the pocket to the paper and
folded the strip where the inside paper ended.
I cut the bottom corners to make the folding easier.
The pocket looks like a diaper this way.

I then glued the flaps of the pocket to the back of the inside paper.

I then glue the paper to the inside of the cover.
Make sure attach your inside paper with the pockets in the correct directions.
Other wise one will be upside down.

Now punch the wholes the same way you did the outside covers.
Both front and back covers are complete.

From here you can decorate your front cover further.

Reattach to spiral and TaDa! Cute new notebook!

1st Day of School

1st day of school after 7 years was weird!
But, for the most part today went well.

I'm taking intro to Art which for me is awesome, however I'm not sure about the instructor. Cussing, repeating himself alot, and releasing us from class 2 hours early is just weird. Class started at 10:45 and according to the class schedule I received should end at 1:35. The instructor's hand out today said we get out at 1:20 and then the instructor stated we should be outta class by 1:00. Weird! I guess it's fine, but my second class of the day begins at 1:45. Not enough time to wonder home for a quick lunch.

My second class is math. I hate math. I don't have the attention span, but I think I'll be okay! The instructor is nice and knows how to explain things for someone like me. And will be around after class for extra help! YAY! I noticed we have a class clown already though. We were given homework already. I did the first half and am taking a break now so I do the second part. So far so good.

Back to class on Thursday! Oh geeze!
Hopefully tomorrow I'll have something crafty for you see.

SPCC - Color Combo #11

Justin and I love going to Tombstone just to walk around.
But in this case we actually did the tourist thing!
We got to see the famous site of shoot out at
the OK Coral and got to see the reenactment.
I've seen it before but Justin hadn't so that was kinda cool!

I thought this weeks
Scrapmaster’s Paradise Color Combos
Would be perfect for an old time vintage look with a spin.
I used more pattern & die cut paper on one LO than
I have ever done, but I think it looks pretty neat.
I'll be trying it out again for sure!
